RE: [femm] New FEMM user

Eric-

I looked at your problem... One novice to another. I found that your mesh size is so small compared to the grid specified. You could be there all day waitingor your computer will hang up like mine did and I had to kill FEMM. Your grid was 100 and your mesh was 0 .10 which is a lot of mesh. This is not necessary in the air region. I changed the mesh size to 20.

I also assigned a boudary condition to the outer circle to simulate infinity. I'veseen this in some of the sample problems. Go under "Properties", "Boundary", "Add Property". Change the name to "Infinity" or as David likes "Absorbing Boundary". Select BC type on the pull down to be "Mixed". This make some of the othe boxes available. Put the value of Co = 6962160 (ask David where this number comes from). Click OK. Now you have to assign it to the outer circle. Select the arc button. Right click on each semi-circle and hit the space bar. The pop up window come up. Set "Boundary Cond." to "infinity".

I got your model to work with those two changes.

Good luck!

Dear All.
I have a small problem. I made my very first model with the femm-editor. 5 magnets in a circle of air. I did the steps mentioned in the tutorial but when I start 'create mesh' I see and hear the computer working and after a while Femm-editor returns with a message that the call to triangle was not succesful.
I wonder if maybe someone can be so kindto look at my model and write what I did wrong.
Thanks in advance.
