No, femm doesn't solve the Helmholtz equation. The program solves
magnetostatic problems (Poisson equation) and low frequency eddy current
problem (diffusion equation). Some parts of femm could be used in a
high-frequency code (complex symmetric matrix solver, triangle, etc.), but
the program would have to be modified pretty extensively (i.e. a
different formuation in the solver for these problems, different kinds of
results are of interest in the postprocessor) to be able to solve
high-frequency problems.
