RE: Electromagnetic Design Engineer
WaveCrest Laboratories, a research and development firm targeting the design of low voltage electric transportation applications is currently seeking a motivated individual to fill the position of an Electromagnetic Design Engineer at its Dulles, VA research facility. The appropriate engineer would be working under the auspices of an Electromagnetic Design team, which will be responsible for the design and the development of low voltage electric motors, motor drives, and their applications in 1kW to 100kW range. In this position the candidate will be required to model (both analytical and numerical) and simulate electromagnetic and mechanical components and systems and develop fast and accurate design and analysis programs.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Magnetic and Electromagnetic Design, Magnetic Circuit Design using hard (permanent) and soft magnetic materials
· 2D and 3D Finite Element Modeling and analysis of characteristics of magnetic materials, various design & analysis techniques of electric motors
· Software proficiency with ANSYS coupled field analysis, ANSOFT, and SolidWorks is highly desired
· Automotive and thermal design experience is highly desired
· Related fields may include sensor and instrument design, electrical and electronic design, instrumentation and related R&D fields, computer model simulations and evaluations, Finite Element Analysis, laboratory experimentation and testing, as well as production / manufacturing experience
Minimum Requirements:
· Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
· 3+ years of relevant motor design experience.
· Strong FEA and 3D programming skills, ANSOFT, ANSYS, and SolidWorks experience
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and technical skills.
