Finite Element Method Magnetics
A Windows finite element solver for 2D and axisymmetric magnetic, electrostatic, heat flow, and current flow problems with graphical pre- and post-processors.

- FAQ: I have downloaded your latest version of FEMM and encountered the error: "This application has failed to start because ML32I2.dll was not found. Reisntalling the application may fix this problem." What do I do?
- Answer: ML32I2.dll is the DLL that FEMM needs if Mathematica is to be used as a scripting engine. Since the program can't find the DLL, you probably don't have Mathematica installed on your system. Run the installer again and accept the default selection of "No" when it asks if you want to install the program with Mathematica support. If Mathematica suport is not installed, you can still do scripting in FEMM's "Native" Lua, Octave, Matlab, or Scilab.

The program comes with no warranty or support. However, there is an independent FEMM user's group at http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/femm/
and many frequently asked questions are addressed in the FAQ
The FEMM 4.2 distribution includes toolboxes for interacting with FEMM from Octave/Matlab, Scilab, and Mathematica. Recommended distributions of Gnu Octave that run on Windows are:
These distributions are recommended because they come with the Octave-Forge "Windows" package. This package speeds up the communication between Octave and FEMM.
Scilab can be obtained from http://www.scilab.org/
. The scripts included in the FEMM distribution have been tested on 32-bit versions 5.2.2 and 5.3.0-beta 4.
Old versions of FEMM, Bela, and Mirage are also still available on the OldVersions
FEMM is licensed under the terms of the Aladdin Free Public License
. The Triangle
mesh generator and the Lua
scripting language, which are included in the distribution, each have their own licensing terms.
