I think this is a Windows "feature" and nothing to do with FEMM. I may be talking rubbish but it may be to do with the file system I don't think FAT16 can deal with long filenames but FAT32 or NTFS can. Certainly my Windows 98 (FAT32) and 2000 (NTFS) setups work OK.
