Whoops--I meant to say:

L=(N*h/i) * (A1 - A2)

The difference in A gives you the flux per unit of length in the
into-the-page direction that passes through the coil due to current i.
You have to multiply by h to get the total flux per turn, by N to get
the total flux for all turns, and divide by i to yield inductance, which
is a measure of flux linkage per unit of current.
