RE: [femm] Where did I make the mistake?

Hi:

Just an FYI: Microsoft Notepad in Win2K will allow you to save any file
with any extension.

When doing a save or save as select "all files" from the "save as type" drop
down box. You can then enter the extension you want to use and notepad will
save the file with this extension.

I use notepad for HTML editing and BAT file creation.

If you do not select "all files" from the "files of type" drop down then
Hans Krieg's tips are very useful.

An nice enhancement request may be to add a notepad like form/*.exe that
opens and saves only *.lua files. It could even have an option to add
common *.lua scripts or commands.

I only add the enhancement request because I am just beginning to learn this
type of analysis and it would help me :-)

Hope this helps.

Notepad automatically puts the extension .txt in the filename even though
you choose .lua as extension. So you get for example: test.lua.txt
Femm does not reckognize this extension. Use for instance the Explorer to
remove the extension .txt. Be sure in the folder option to "unhide" the
known extensions because otherwise you won't see the extension txt after
the name neither will you be able to remove it.

Subject: [femm] Where did I make the mistake?

Hello femm group,

I'm working on a synchronous reluctance motor. Now, I
need to do the calculus for many position af the
rotor.
It will be very helpful for me if I can make a lua
script that rotates the rotor for many positions
automatically.
I think I still don't get how lua script works.
Suppose I create a text file containing the command
addnode(0,0)with notepad, and I give it the extension
".lua" when I save it. Then, when I try to open this
file within femm (file-open lua script), it doesn't
appear inside the dialog box (I'm using the executable
version femm 3.1).
Could anybody tell me, where did I make the mistake?
If possible, please send me very simple example like a
script that makes one point or one segment just to see
how should I proceed!

Best regards

Tsarafidy.
