Re: [femm] permanent magnets?

I am teaching a class next semester on brushless permanent magnet

Does FEMM have native permanent magnet material capabilities? In
other words can I enter the remanence and coercive force for a PM
material and have FEMM do the right thing? Or do I have to use
current sheets, etc. to "create" magnet material?

Yes, FEMM does have "native" permanent magnet material capabilites.  There are several different types of magnetic materials defined in the materials library.  I'd posted an example of a brushelss PM motor some time ago -- see http://groups.yahoo.com/group/femm/message/497
