total losses in the conductor

I have a copper wire going through a core material. At DC
the total losses in the conductor are as expected and
represent i2r losses.

BUT when I run the analysis at 1MHz the total losses in the
conductor drops to about 1/2 that value. Losses in the core
appear as expected.

Doesn't seem intuitively correct. It seems the losses
should go up slightly due to "crowding" of the conduction.

Note the losses in the core are about 100 times what the
loss was in the conductor.

Any ideas?
