reducing residual magnetism

Hello

We are developing an electromagnet, using sintered metal as the core. It is
cup-shaped, with a central pole piece. The problem is that there is a very
high level of residual magnetism. Can anyone advise me as to how we can
reduce the residual magnetism (which material to add), without
significantly affecting the pull-force?

Material is (or similar to) "Powder metal iron as per F0000-5 containing
0.43% Phosphorus, material density 6.8-7.2g/cm^3".

Thanks in advance.
