A good place to start would be: N. Ida and J. Bastos, "Electromagnetics and calculations of fields, 2nd ed.", Springer-Verlag, 1997. (ISBN 0387948775) They have a nice chapter on edge elements, and they recommend a set of references on edge elements for further reading.
